Description

A Japanese meat knife at a very competitive price. This meat knife naturally cuts (almost) everything it encounters, but is ideally suited for cutting meat. Because the blade is less wide, the resistance when cutting is less and you get nicer cuts.

About this series
Takahiro is Kazoku's second knife series and they are beautiful knives. The knives are made in a small factory in Seki, the knife city of Japan. So a Takahiro is a truly original Japanese knife!

Japanese steel
The sharpness of a knife is determined by the steel and the method of sharpening. This knife is made of Japanese VG-10 steel. Among connoisseurs, this type of steel is known as one of the best steels for knives. VG-10 steel is hard and stays sharp for a long time. Because of its high hardness, the knife can be sharpened extra sharp (at 15 degrees). The blade can also be made extra thin, cutting with great ease.

The hard core is protected by several layers of damask steel. These softer layers protect the hard steel, making the knife less vulnerable.

As a final step, the knife is worked with a hammer; the pattern obtained is called tsuchime. This hammering gives the knife a characterful finish and makes food stick less while cutting.

The handle
The handle is made of brown pakka wood. Pakka wood is made by combining wood and plastic. The result is the warm appearance of a wooden handle without the maintenance.
