Our Kazoku ceramic sharpening bar is made of extra fine ceramic #2000. This gives a very refined result. Your knife will become sharper and will cut more beautifully. Highly recommended, especially for use with sharp knives made of harder steel.

What does this sharpening rod do?

This sharpening rod is intended for regular maintenance of knives that are already reasonably sharp. It removes burrs and small bumps that make your knife not perform optimally. You use it right before you start using the knife. A few strokes along this sharpening rod is enough.

Coarse vs. fine

This sharpening rod is ceramic with a very fine texture. There are also coarser sharpening rods with a diamond coating. This sharpens faster because more material is taken away. This can be nice if the knife is already a little blunt. But it can also be a little too clunky, especially if you have nice knives that you want to keep up on a regular basis.

One small drawback

Ceramic is fragile. Especially don't drop it, as it may break. Two advantages that can be mentioned right away though: this sharpening rod has an iron core that protects against breakage. And if it should happen: the ceramic part is also available separately.

Straws

For ultimate sharpness, we recommend combining it with our Kazoku stropping block. After sharpening with this rod, run the blade over the strop block a few times and you're ready to shave with it!
