Tanuki knives from JNS are handmade in Sanjo, Japan. The razor-sharp Shirogami #2 carbon steel is protected by 2 layers of softer carbon steel. Thus, the entire knife can discolor and rust. Like the other JNS knives, they run very thin which makes for a special cutting experience. The blade is finished with a dark kurouchi layer that makes food stick less while cutting.

Nice to know: Tanuki is the Japanese word for the raccoon dog from the fables.

  • Made of Shirogami #2 carbon steel (61-62 Rockwell) with 2 layers of carbon steel
  • High quality handle of Magnolia with a head of buffalo horn
  • Made in Sanjo Japan
  • Kurouchi Finish

Traditional Japanese Handle
The handle is shaped like a D-handle and is slightly longer. As a result, you always have a good grip even with wet hands. It is made of magnolia with a head of buffalo horn

IMPORTANT INFO: At the moment the santoku's do not have a kanji
