Wusthof Gourmet series

The Wusthof Gourmet series is made for every beginning (hobby) cook. As a basis for this series, Wusthof took the Classic series and looked at how they could make a similar knife for a more accessible price. The result of this is the Wusthof Gourmet series.

Stamped, ice-hardened steel
The big difference from the Classis series is that Gourmet knives are not forged, but are precision laser cut from stainless steel plates (Chrome Molybdenum Vanadium plates). This is more automated and that makes a big difference in the price.

The Gourmet, while made of the same quality steel as those in the other series, is hardened to 56 Rockwell. This ensures that the knife stays sharp longer compared to other brands around the same price range.

Handle
The handle is made of special plastic (which is very durable) that cannot tear. Between the blade and the handle, the knife has a continuous sting and lacks a crop. As a result, the entire blade is sharp.

Because of the combination of stamped steel and a plastic handle without a head, the Gourmet knives feel much lighter than those in the Classic series. They are also wonderfully balanced in the hand and have fine ergonomics. The knives have the NSF seal of approval and are very suitable for use in the professional kitchen.

Difference with the Silverpoint series
Compared to the Silverpoint, the Gourmet has an ergonomically shaped handle and is therefore more pleasant to use. Many novice cooks therefore find this the finest entry series.
