Ryusen Hoenryu; The future of Japanese knives

Unlike "normal" damask knives, this Hoenryu is made by blending two Japanese steels into one. The result is a razor-sharp knife that stays sharp much longer.

The master blacksmiths at Ryusen have forged VG-10 and VG-2 coreless. Thus, the knife does not consist of a hard core steel with damask layers over it but the entire knife is the core. This makes it sharper to sharpen, easier to maintain and cuts even more precisely.

The 70 layers of damask steel are formed in a drop pattern. This too shows the skill of Ryusen. It is finished with a mirror finish that gives it a luxurious look and provides less resistance while cutting.

The handle is made of Maple that has been varnished several times. Ryusen's logo is featured with a gold color on the handle as a finishing touch.

Handmade by the best knife makers in Japan

The big difference between Ryusen and other knife makers is that with Ryusen, the knives are completely handmade. They use the best steel from the Takefu factory that is evenly hardened in a salt bath to 60-62 HRC Rockwell. This elaborate procedure ensures that Ryusen knives stay finely cut much longer than other brands. With a Ryusen, you have a knife from one of the best knife makers in Japan.
