The world's most popular paring knife, a household name for over a century. This paring knife from Robert Herder is very thinly ground and therefore extremely sharp. Moreover, it retains its sharpness thanks to the carbon steel, making these knives last for decades. This has earned them the nickname "Grandma's knife," as this knife has spent years in everyone's grandma's kitchen drawer, discolored and deformed by years of use.
- Very thinly ground blade
- Cuts effortlessly through all types of food
- Stays sharp for a very long time
- Requires drying after use (to prevent rust)
- May discolor due to formation of patina
- Not dishwasher safe
Made in Solingen, Germany
These knives are largely handmade by artisans in Solingen, Germany. Thanks to the special sharpening method, they cut effortlessly through fruits and vegetables. Each knife is hand tested before being shipped. Learn more about Herder grinder knives here.
Fun fact: the name "mill knife" comes from the Mill logo (Windmühlenmesser) that appears on each knife.
Carbon steel (carbon)
Please note that this knife is made of non-stainless carbon steel. With use, it will discolor due to the patina layer that forms on the steel. This dark layer protects the knife from rusting. Be sure to dry the knife thoroughly and avoid using it in the dishwasher.
