Monolith - The best kamados
Monolith Kamado: grilling at a higher level
The Monolith is a ceramic barbecue for grilling, stewing, baking, smoking, roasting and barbecuing. Because you can keep experimenting with this versatile topper, it turns barbecuing into a culinary adventure.
The Monolith is a kamado (pronounced: ka-má-do), based on the 3000-year-old Asian clay oven. Literally translated from Japanese, kamado means: stove or oven. The Americans got acquainted with the kamado when the American army was stationed in Japan. They were so impressed by the taste of the meat that they brought the idea back to America. There it has been perfected in recent years and has taken the shape of a ceramic egg.
The advantages of the Monolith
The advantage of the Monolith is that it is made of a very high quality ceramic. This allows it to become extremely hot inside (up to 400 degrees Celsius) while on the outside it remains relatively cool. The ceramic absorbs the heat and radiates it. This way, the heat comes from all sides of the dish instead of just the bottom, as with a normal barbecue. Also, the moisture remains in the kamado, so that (for example) meat dries out less and stays nice and juicy.
Monolith is the only kamado on the market with a special supply for smoke wood. In addition, all screws and bolts are made of stainless steel so they will never rust. For example, the screws on the Big Green Egg kamados are made from tinned steel.
The perfect temperature
A grill that gets extremely hot and the temperature cannot be regulated or controlled is of no use to you. In the Monolith, the temperature can be adjusted using the slider at the front and the daisy wheel at the top. By opening these openings further, more oxygen will flow through the barbecue. This will cause the coals to burn harder and the barbecue to get hotter. By closing the openings more, less oxygen will flow through the kamado and the temperature will drop. Once you get used to working with the Monolith, you can adjust it perfectly between 80 and 400 degrees.
By keeping the lid closed no moisture escapes from the kamado. The meat and poultry remain tender and juicy. If you want to sear the meat, open the slide at the bottom of the Monolith all the way and within minutes you will have the most beautiful grill marks. By using a rub (herb mix), you can create a delicious caramelised layer on your meat.
Low and Slow
You have probably eaten or at least heard of it: pulled pork. Meat that has been cooked for hours and can be pulled apart without any effort. With the Monolith Grill, this so-called Low & Slow way of preparing is easy to achieve. The supplied Heat Diffuser (heat shield) allows for indirect grilling. By placing the Heat Diffuser above the front basket, you can smoke and cook for hours at low temperatures, between 90 and 140 degrees Celsius.
The different ways of barbecuing
Economical in use
Thanks to its design, the Monolith is also much more economical than regular barbecues. On average, you use up to 35% more charcoal with the same amount. Of course, it is important that you choose pure charcoal without chemicals. With 3 kg of good charcoal, for example, you can slow cook for up to 24 hours!
The Monolith is easily adjustable for different ways of grilling. With the included accessories, you can optimize the kamado for smoking, grilling, baking and stewing. Below is an example of the Monolith Classic.
Within 4 minutes the tastiest pizzas
With the pizza plate you can bake a real stone oven pizza within 4 minutes, just like you normally get at the Italian. The high temperature means the crust quickly becomes crispy without the sauce and vegetables boiling over. Because of this the pizza will not lose its taste. Even a simple frozen pizza becomes much tastier.
Unique smoke supply system
Compared to other brands, Monolith has not only the stainless steel parts, the Monolith has many other advantages. In the middle of the kamado, there is an opening for smoking wood. This allows you to put smoke dust (wood chips and herbs) in the kamado during barbecuing, without having to open the egg and remove the grill. In this way, you don't lose any heat and you easily add extra flavour to your dishes.
This supply is one of the main reasons why we are big fans of the Monolith. By adding the various smoke chips, you can make meat, fish and vegetables even more tasty.

The Junior: 32 cm, red and black
The Junior is specially made for people with a small balcony or garden. Despite its compact size, the Junior has a grilling surface of 32 cm. This makes it small, but fine. The Junior has the same functions and features as the Classic.
The Classic: 43 cm, red and black
The Classic is by far our most popular model. In combination with the wheeled frame, the kamado is easy to move around the garden, despite its weight. The Classic is ideal for both personal use and throwing a barbecue party.

Best price-quality ratio
The German edition of Fire & Food magazine did an extensive test of the Monolith, Kamado Joe, Big Green Egg and Primo. They were very impressed with the Monolith's good value for money. This is because, unlike other brands, it comes very complete and no concessions have been made on the quality of the materials.

The Monolith has, as far as safety is concerned, two important advantages compared to metal barbecues. With a (closed) kamado there is no contact with the flames. If the kamado comes into contact with your skin, the ceramic stone will not stick to the skin, which does happen with metal barbecues.
