Kenshiro Hatono is a young blacksmith who honed his craft under the guidance of Katasuyasu Kamo. In 2024, he began forging his own knives, and we’re excited to present his SG2 Damast series. The different layers of steel create a distinctive pattern that can even be felt on the blade’s surface. The blade's flat belly has a gentle curve, making it ideal for both straight cuts and rocking motions. Each knife in this series features an octagonal handle crafted from Wenge, complemented by a walnut ferrule.

  • SG2 63 HRc
  • R2 / SG2 Powdersteel
  • Wenge handle with walnut ferrule
  • Supplied in a deluxe wood storage box

Bunka

This Bunka knife is a general-purpose knife that combines a vegetable cleaver and a Chef's knife. It features a wide blade that ends in a sharp, triangle-shaped tip. The tip makes it easy to cut small fruits and vegetables with precision. In addition, the Bunka is more compact than a regular cook's knife.

SG2 Steel

This knife is made from SG2 steel, a powder steel that's harder than VG10 and keeps a longer edge. It's stainless, so you don't have to worry about maintenance, and you can sharpen it on a higher grit than VG10 steel.

Damast

Brilliant and beautiful, this knife features multiple layers of steel protecting the core steel. These layers are called damask and are visible on the blade in unique designs and patterns. They showcase the blacksmith's skill and bring elegance and sophistication to the kitchen.

Stainless cladding

Stainless steel cladding is like a solid, reliable veneer for your knife. Thirty-two layers of stainless steel protect the core steel to keep the knife in excellent condition while allowing for flexibility.

Octagonal Wa Handle

Sophisticated and practical, the octagonal Wa handle is an excellent pick for chefs who are frequently at the cutting board. The traditional design provides the best grip while cutting and chopping, even with wet hands. A pakkawood ferrule prevents splitting and wear for a long-lasting, durable handle.
