This is the serrated knife from the Meiji series. Ideal for cutting vegetables with hard skin or cutting through the hard crust of bread without damaging the soft inside. Because of the serrations, the knife stays sharp for an extra long time in the process.
Made in Japan
The Meiji knives combine the beauty and sharpness of Japanese knives with the convenience of Western knives. The combination makes for a stunning series with the unique features we know from Bob Kramer.
Japanese influence
The influence of Japanese knife makers is evident in this series. For example, the knife is made with the made of rock-hard Japanese Steel (Powder Steel hardened to 61 HRC Rockwell).
To protect the hard steel and give it flexibility, 100 layers of mixed steel (nickel and stainless steel) are folded around the steel.
This technique is called Damast and gives the knife a unique design. After forging, the knives are given a honzbazuke grind and are highly polished.
Bob Kramer influence
Connoisseurs have been familiar with Master Blacksmith Bob Kramer's legendary knives for years. Aside from the exceptional steel he uses, his knives have a number of unique features. For example, the knives are a lot wider than from other brands. This allows you to enjoy your knife even longer, even with regular sharpening.
Safe cutting
Another feature is the shape of the blade at the beginning of the handle. This is because it tapers off in a smooth shape. This gives you a better grip and less chance of cutting yourself.
Superb handle
The handle of the Meiji series are a work of art in themselves. They are inspired by the traditional Japanese handle that is shaped like the letter D. Bob Kramer has chosen to make them slightly wider for the Western market. After all, we are used to somewhat larger handles.
Finished to perfection
The handle is made of pakka wood which is a combination of wood and plastic. So you do have the luxurious design of wood without the maintenance. In the middle is a luxurious Mosaic pin that gives the knife class. The crop between the handle and blade provides a seamless transition and better balance.
With the Meiji series, Bob Kramer has launched a stunning knife at a reasonably competitive price. This is a knife for anyone who loves beautiful products and enjoys being in the kitchen.
